Meaning
Working late into the night — staying past regular hours to finish work. From 야 (night) + 근 (work). In Korean work culture, 야근 is practically a rite of passage. Not just overtime — often an unspoken expectation.
야 = night (shortened from '야'간)
근 = work (shortened from '근'무)
